Reward- based life skills training for puppies and adult dogs
Looking for puppy classes or beginner dog training in Shropshire? Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy, helping an older dog learn the foundations or starting afresh with a rescue dog, our Puppy & Beginner Life Skills Course will help you build confidence and enjoy life together.
Over eight weeks, you’ll learn far more than basic commands. Using kind, reward-based training, we’ll help you build a strong relationship with your dog, develop their focus around distractions and teach practical life skills that make everyday life more enjoyable for you both.
For puppies, this means building good habits from the beginning. For adult beginners, it’s an opportunity to develop those foundations, build understanding and grow in confidence together.
Our aim isn’t simply to teach your dog to listen—it’s to help them choose to work with you because they trust and enjoy being with you.
As part of the course, you’ll also begin working towards the APDT Good Companion Award Scheme at Puppy or Foundation level, giving you clear goals as your dog progresses.
Week one of your eight-week Puppy & Beginner Life Skills Course is a pre-recorded Life Skills Foundations Presentation, which you can watch from the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you.
Suitable for owners of both puppies and adult dogs, this presentation introduces the foundations that will help you set your dog up for success. Watching it before your first practical class will help you arrive feeling prepared and confident, so we can spend more time putting those skills into practice together.
Your eight-week course includes:
Week one: a pre-recorded Life Skills Foundations Presentation to watch before attending your first practical class.
Seven practical, instructor-led training sessions to help you build a strong relationship with your dog and develop the skills for a calmer, more confident and enjoyable life together.
The presentation covers:
