Overview

Enjoy Life with a Well- Trained Dog

Whether you’re starting your training journey with a puppy, adolescent or adult dog, or simply looking to build on the foundations you’ve already established, our Life Skills Classes are designed to help you and your dog succeed together.

Our friendly, small-group classes focus on practical, real-life training to help you build a calm, confident dog that’s a pleasure to live with at home and out in the real world.

Every exercise is designed to strengthen the bond between you and your dog while giving you the skills and confidence to continue progressing long after each class has finished.

What You’ll Learn

Every class focuses on practical skills that you can use in everyday life.

As you progress through the programme you’ll develop skills such as:

  • Loose lead walking
  • Recall foundations
  • Calm bed settling
  • Focus and engagement
  • Leave It
  • Impulse control
  • Confidence building
  • Handling for grooming and veterinary examinations
  • Calmness around distractions
  • Everyday manners around people and dogs
  • Duration, distance and distraction exercises
  • Much more as you continue progressing through the programme.

Each exercise is carefully layered, helping both you and your dog build confidence and success week after week.

Is This Class Right for Me?

Our Life Skills Classes are ideal for:

  • Puppies ready to begin group training
  • Adolescent dogs
  • Adult dogs
  • Rescue dogs
  • Owners wanting to improve everyday manners
  • Anyone looking to continue developing their dog’s training in a friendly and supportive environment

If you’re unsure whether these classes are the right fit for you and your dog, we’re always happy to have a chat before you book.

Continue Growing Together

Dog training isn’t something that’s ever truly finished.

As your dog grows and develops, new challenges and opportunities arise. Our rolling programme allows you to continue progressing through the APDT Good Companion Award Scheme while enjoying regular training, ongoing support and new challenges along the way.

We’d love to welcome you and your dog to the Clever Clogs community.

How the Classes Work

Our Life Skills Classes run in rolling six-week blocks, allowing you and your dog to progress at a pace that suits you.

Throughout each block you’ll work through the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) Good Companion Award Scheme, a nationally recognised programme that develops practical, real-life skills through structured, reward-based training.

Around week four we’ll contact you to see if you’d like to continue into the next six-week block. Many of our clients choose to stay because each stage naturally builds on the last, allowing you to continue developing your dog’s training while strengthening your relationship together.

Small Classes, Individual Support

We deliberately keep our classes small, with a maximum of six dogs, ensuring every owner receives plenty of individual coaching and support.

Whether your goal is to improve everyday manners, prepare for new adventures, build confidence or simply enjoy spending quality time with your dog, we’ll help you every step of the way.

Our philosophy is simple:

Strong foundations create amazing dogs.
