Puppy/Beginners Life Skills Course

Life skills are the foundation to any well-rounded happy family dog.

Overview – 8 Week Puppy Course

This course builds the foundations for you to have the perfect dog that listens because they want to not because they have too.

Covering many of the basics you look for as well as the skills needed to have a calm controlled focused dog who adores you not the environment around them. A dog who turns to you for support, fun and engagement. Who settles when alone and trusts you as an owner as you trust in them. Teaching your dog lifetime skills through games and engagement!

As part of this course you will also start the Puppy or Foundation level of the APDT Good Companion Awards Scheme (this is non competitive achievement scheme with no test at the end)

Week 1 of this course is a recorded presentation sent out on or before the start date advertised as week 1.

Covering

-Setting up your training sessions for success,

-Body language and

-Foundation games to get you started on the right path.

This ensures you have some foundation training ready for us to welcome you in person on Week 2 of the course at the venue.

Week 2-8 of the course is then in person at the advertised location

Start your journey through the APDT Good Companion Awards (Puppy/Foundation level)
Learning all the foundations to grow the dog and owner relationship!
Games to build skills for life!
What you and your dog learns
- Understanding your dogs body language
- How to focus around distractions
- Loose lead walking
- Orientation/proximity skills so your dog chooses to stick close to you
- Confidence and optimism skills (so your dog isn’t worried about situations)
- How to remain calm in all situations
- How to prevent and retrain problem areas of behaviour
- How to build independence
- Basic commands (leave it, sit, down, recall and soooooo much more)
Every group is tailored to the dogs on the course so we can change the areas we work on depending on the areas you are struggling with your dog
Support group to share successes of your training and to ask for support when needed.
