Stay on our working smallholding at Woodgate Farm (Hope Bowdler, near Church Stretton) and supercharge your dog’s training with tailored, private sessions.

We offer 2 ways to stay

  • The Annex – a self-contained two-bed holiday let (sleeps up to 4), with two private bathrooms, lounge/dining area, large kitchen, and a private patio overlooking the farm and hills.

  • The Caravan Site – a peaceful five-pitch site with electric hook-up, water, waste facilities, and easy access to the surrounding Shropshire Hills.

Whichever option you choose, you can add a tailored dog training package to your stay. Training takes place in our enclosed private field or covered barn (weather-proof), with the option to include short, real-world sessions in the local town.

Who this suits

  • Puppies and adolescents needing structure and calm confidence

  • Adult dogs who’d benefit from focused recall/loose-lead work away from busy parks

  • Owners who want a clear plan and practical, real-life coaching (not just theory)

  • People wanting to tidy up existing skills or smooth out challenges such as pulling on the lead, unreliable recall, overexcitement, or other day-to-day struggles

  • Anyone looking for dedicated time to focus on their dog’s training in a relaxed setting, away from the pressures of everyday life

  • Owners who may be experiencing behavioural struggles — while a holiday won’t replace a full behaviour consultation, it can provide the chance to lay solid foundations and begin positive changes.

For more complex behavioural issues, we recommend booking a dedicated behaviour consultation alongside or in advance of your holiday to ensure you receive the right level of support.

Your holiday package includes –

  • Private, tailored coaching with an experienced trainer

  • Use of our enclosed field and covered barn

  • Written homework & video summaries for key exercises

  • Next-steps plan for when you get home

What to pack for your dog –

  • Your dog’s usual food, bed and a well-fitted harness/collar

  • High-value rewards (treats, favourite toy)

  • Long line (we can lend one if needed)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing and stout footwear

Pricing & how to book

  • Packages are priced according to season and accommodation type.

  • Step 1: Send an enquiry with your dates and dog’s details.

  • Step 2: We confirm trainer availability, and then we can discuss putting a plan into action.

  • Step 3: Secure your stay (Annex or Caravan Pitch) + training package.

Note: Training holidays are designed for skill-building and everyday training challenges. If your dog has more complex behavioural issues (such as aggression, severe reactivity, or separation struggles), we recommend arranging a dedicated behaviour consultation in addition to your holiday to ensure you get the right support.

Tip: If you’re booking a mid-week reset in the Annex, don’t forget to ask about our special rates available during quieter holiday seasons.

The local area (dog-friendly highlights)

  • Carding Mill Valley & the Long Mynd (National Trust): miles of waymarked paths, café that welcomes dogs inside; leads advised around livestock and during ground-nesting bird season (Mar–Jul).

  • Shropshire Hills National Landscape: rolling hills, classic ridgelines (Caer Caradoc, Ragleth, Long Mynd) and superb walking from the door.

  • Hope Bowdler village: a quiet, hilly parish just 1–1.5 miles east of Church Stretton; close to Hope Bowdler Hill and the Stretton Hills.

(Tip: keep dogs close/under control near sheep year-round, and on leads where signed; it protects wildlife and livestock and keeps training on track.)
